Synopsys Introduces Polaris Assist: AI-Powered Application Security Assistant

Synopsys has unveiled Polaris Assist, an innovative AI-powered application security assistant incorporated into the Synopsys Polaris Software Integrity Platform®. Leveraging advanced Large Language Model (LLM) technology alongside Synopsys’ deep knowledge in application security, including robust coding patterns, vulnerability detection rules, and insights from Black Duck’s expansive open-source database, Polaris Assist delivers straightforward summaries of identified vulnerabilities and AI-generated code fix recommendations. These capabilities empower security and development teams to construct more secure software efficiently.

Key Features of Polaris Assist

The inaugural release of Polaris Assist introduces two potent AI-driven functionalities within the Polaris Software Integrity Platform:

Polaris AI Issue Summaries

Polaris AI Issue Summaries facilitate developers’ understanding and response to static analysis findings. By harnessing AI, this feature generates concise and actionable summaries of identified coding weaknesses and vulnerabilities. These summaries include insights into potential risks and contextual remediation guidance tailored to the specific code under examination.

Polaris AI Fix Suggestions

Polaris AI Fix Suggestions streamline the process of addressing security vulnerabilities by presenting AI-generated code fixes. Developers can efficiently review and implement these suggestions directly into their codebase, significantly reducing remediation time while ensuring the integrity and security of their software.

“Polaris Assist boosts security and developer productivity, allowing them to more easily understand and remediate security vulnerabilities in their code,” said Jason Schmitt, general manager of the Synopsys Software Integrity Group.

“Our goal with Polaris Assist is to automate repetitive or time-consuming AppSec activities so our customers can spend less time dealing with security issues and more time innovating. AI-powered vulnerability summaries and code fix suggestions are compelling use cases that address real pain points many organizations are feeling today, but they also validate the immense opportunity generative AI presents for the field of application security moving forward. We are investing aggressively to expand our AI capabilities on the Polaris platform and extend them to other products in our portfolio over the coming months.”

Polaris Assist is now available on the Polaris platform and will be showcased May 6 – 9 at the RSA Conference in San Francisco at the Synopsys Software Integrity Group booth, #1027.
